Narrative:
Departing oshkosh eaa annual convention on IFR flight plan. Vectored south by chicago center on 135.55. Vacuum failure at 7600'. Cruise climb to 9000'. 12 mi southwest of fld contacted chicago center. Declared emergency. Vectored to fld by chicago center and given frequency of approach facility of 126.60. Approach personnel on 126.60 requested landing light, rock wings and report position. Complied with above for approach at runway 36 and landed without incident. FAA personnel on site informed me I landed on closed runway due to double fatality within previous hour (wreckage of fatal crash 1/2 mi from approach end of runway 36). What happened! Chicago center gave me radar vectors to fld and approach frequency (126.6) for osh (oshkosh) 30 mi north. Osh has same runway confign as fld (18-36/9-27). FSDO personnel investigated and prepared report. Conclusion: case closed, human error!?

FAA PERSONNEL ON SITE INFORMED ME I LANDED ON CLOSED RWY DUE TO DOUBLE FATALITY WITHIN PREVIOUS HOUR (WRECKAGE OF FATAL CRASH 1/2 MI FROM APCH END OF RWY 36). WHAT HAPPENED! CHICAGO CENTER GAVE ME RADAR VECTORS TO FLD AND APCH FREQ (126.6) FOR OSH (OSHKOSH) 30 MI N. OSH HAS SAME RWY CONFIGN AS FLD (18-36/9-27). FSDO PERSONNEL INVESTIGATED AND PREPARED REPORT. CONCLUSION: CASE CLOSED, HUMAN ERROR!?
