Narrative:
Although this situation involved a conflict that did not require evasive action, it points out one of the problems at uncontrolled airports. We were west of the uncontrolled airport transitioning to the south to make a standard 45 degree entry to downwind. Our position and intentions were announced on unicom. Another aircraft made a straight out departure rather than a standard downwind departure. This straight out departure caused the conflict, and points out that the many nonstandard flight activities that frequently must go on at uncontrolled airports. I feel there is a need to do things in a standard way at uncontrolled airports especially, because of the diversity of traffic, such as no radio aircraft. Self-preservation requires that an extra measure of see and be seen be used near uncontrolled airports.

Title: PRIVATE PLT REPORTS CONFLICT WITH ANOTHER GENERAL AVIATION ACFT WHILE MANEUVERING TO ENTER THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AT A NON TWR ARPT (P10)
Narrative: ALTHOUGH THIS SITUATION INVOLVED A CONFLICT THAT DID NOT REQUIRE EVASIVE ACTION, IT POINTS OUT ONE OF THE PROBLEMS AT UNCONTROLLED ARPTS. WE WERE WEST OF THE UNCONTROLLED ARPT TRANSITIONING TO THE SOUTH TO MAKE A STANDARD 45 DEG ENTRY TO DOWNWIND. OUR POSITION AND INTENTIONS WERE ANNOUNCED ON UNICOM. ANOTHER ACFT MADE A STRAIGHT OUT DEP RATHER THAN A STANDARD DOWNWIND DEP. THIS STRAIGHT OUT DEP CAUSED THE CONFLICT, AND POINTS OUT THAT THE MANY NONSTANDARD FLT ACTIVITIES THAT FREQUENTLY MUST GO ON AT UNCONTROLLED ARPTS. I FEEL THERE IS A NEED TO DO THINGS IN A STANDARD WAY AT UNCONTROLLED ARPTS ESPECIALLY, BECAUSE OF THE DIVERSITY OF TFC, SUCH AS NO RADIO ACFT. SELF-PRESERVATION REQUIRES THAT AN EXTRA MEASURE OF SEE AND BE SEEN BE USED NEAR UNCONTROLLED ARPTS.
