Narrative:
I departed weiser airport and got clearance through TCA for direct rwj (54TX). My route of flight carried me north of downtown houston. North and east of hobby airport at 2000', a commuter flight from hobby was given my position by ATC. I was never advised of traffic. When the controller gave the commuter my position of 11-12 O'clock, 1 mi, I began to look for the other aircraft which was at my 3-4 O'clock position. I dove my aircraft and the commuter passed overhead. The pilot of the commuter said, 'we came a little close to that one.' the controller gave both aircraft a frequency change. I climbed back to my assigned altitude. I had radar coverage with ATC and permission to fly through the TCA by ATC. With the commuter coming up from the side opp the pilot, and from the rear. There was no way I could see him until he reached my altitude. I believe the controller was asleep until there was an emergency. The controller should have pointed the traffic out to both aircraft before they were 1 mi apart.

Title: CLOSE PROX GA-SMA COMMUTER-LTT IN IAH TCA.
Narrative: I DEPARTED WEISER ARPT AND GOT CLRNC THROUGH TCA FOR DIRECT RWJ (54TX). MY ROUTE OF FLT CARRIED ME N OF DOWNTOWN HOUSTON. N AND E OF HOBBY ARPT AT 2000', A COMMUTER FLT FROM HOBBY WAS GIVEN MY POS BY ATC. I WAS NEVER ADVISED OF TFC. WHEN THE CTLR GAVE THE COMMUTER MY POS OF 11-12 O'CLOCK, 1 MI, I BEGAN TO LOOK FOR THE OTHER ACFT WHICH WAS AT MY 3-4 O'CLOCK POS. I DOVE MY ACFT AND THE COMMUTER PASSED OVERHEAD. THE PLT OF THE COMMUTER SAID, 'WE CAME A LITTLE CLOSE TO THAT ONE.' THE CTLR GAVE BOTH ACFT A FREQ CHANGE. I CLBED BACK TO MY ASSIGNED ALT. I HAD RADAR COVERAGE WITH ATC AND PERMISSION TO FLY THROUGH THE TCA BY ATC. WITH THE COMMUTER COMING UP FROM THE SIDE OPP THE PLT, AND FROM THE REAR. THERE WAS NO WAY I COULD SEE HIM UNTIL HE REACHED MY ALT. I BELIEVE THE CTLR WAS ASLEEP UNTIL THERE WAS AN EMER. THE CTLR SHOULD HAVE POINTED THE TFC OUT TO BOTH ACFT BEFORE THEY WERE 1 MI APART.
