Narrative:
Local WX was turning VFR from IFR. I was waiting for release on an IFR flight plan. An small aircraft was shooting the ILS approach at augusta (runway 17). I was waiting to depart runway 35. The small aircraft pilot cancelled IFR and ATC released me, informing me that this small aircraft was 3 mi. I entered the runway thinking I had plenty of VFR time to take off and execute a right turn to exit the air traffic area and be on course to bangor, me. Upon powering up I momentarily switched frequency to unicom and made an announcement of my intentions. The small aircraft pilot informed me he was on a quarter mi final so I aborted the takeoff and exited the runway at the 1ST available taxiway. I then informed ATC of my aborted takeoff and assumed 3RD position for release. The resulting flight was uneventful.

Title: SMA TOOK RWY WITH ANOTHER SMA ADVISED 3 MILES OUT. WHEN PLT ANNOUNCED HE WAS TAKING RWY, THE OTHER SMA ADVISED HE WAS NOW ON FINAL. PLT OF SMA EXITED RWY.
Narrative: LCL WX WAS TURNING VFR FROM IFR. I WAS WAITING FOR RELEASE ON AN IFR FLT PLAN. AN SMA WAS SHOOTING THE ILS APCH AT AUGUSTA (RWY 17). I WAS WAITING TO DEPART RWY 35. THE SMA PLT CANCELLED IFR AND ATC RELEASED ME, INFORMING ME THAT THIS SMA WAS 3 MI. I ENTERED THE RWY THINKING I HAD PLENTY OF VFR TIME TO TAKE OFF AND EXECUTE A RIGHT TURN TO EXIT THE ATA AND BE ON COURSE TO BANGOR, ME. UPON POWERING UP I MOMENTARILY SWITCHED FREQ TO UNICOM AND MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF MY INTENTIONS. THE SMA PLT INFORMED ME HE WAS ON A QUARTER MI FINAL SO I ABORTED THE TKOF AND EXITED THE RWY AT THE 1ST AVAILABLE TXWY. I THEN INFORMED ATC OF MY ABORTED TKOF AND ASSUMED 3RD POSITION FOR RELEASE. THE RESULTING FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL.
