Narrative:

Initial operating experience flight for me. Far east flying (coming from domestic) and new airplane type. Check captain in right seat. Both tired. No relief , pilot flying all night from tokyo to sfo. Cleared to descend to 240. On autoplt. Check airman dials in 240, but doesn't get 'altitude select'). Discussing restriction 20 NM at sfo at 11,000 MSL and 250 KTS. (Haven't received it yet.) descend through 240 and altitude alert flashes, climb back to 240. Busted altitude by 800' by time I stopped descent. Center then cleared us to 11,000'. Perhaps checking out a new pilot on fatiguing flts isn't such a great idea. Perhaps we should at least be assigned a relief pilot. Another thing. Airplane I came from had a more advanced FMS and perhaps I was caught off guard.
