Narrative:
Light transport X was on the ILS approach to runway 11 at columbus metropolitan. Small transport Y was inbound from the east at 3100' and vectored for left downwind for ILS runway 11 and to report airport in sight for a visual approach. Small transport Y was descended to 2100'. The initial altitude for light transport X on the ILS was 2100' also. Small transport Y then descended to 1700' and reported field in sight. 2 mi northeast of airport, small transport Y was asked if light transport X on 1 1/2 mi final was in sight, he responded, 'looking'. Lateral and vertical separation was lost prior to small transport Y advising he had light transport X in sight.

Title: RADAR SEPARATION WAS LOST WHEN AN SMT COULD NOT MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION WITH TRAFFIC HE WAS FOLLOWING.
Narrative: LTT X WAS ON THE ILS APCH TO RWY 11 AT COLUMBUS METRO. SMT Y WAS INBND FROM THE EAST AT 3100' AND VECTORED FOR LEFT DOWNWIND FOR ILS RWY 11 AND TO REPORT ARPT IN SIGHT FOR A VISUAL APCH. SMT Y WAS DESCENDED TO 2100'. THE INITIAL ALT FOR LTT X ON THE ILS WAS 2100' ALSO. SMT Y THEN DESCENDED TO 1700' AND REPORTED FIELD IN SIGHT. 2 MI NE OF ARPT, SMT Y WAS ASKED IF LTT X ON 1 1/2 MI FINAL WAS IN SIGHT, HE RESPONDED, 'LOOKING'. LATERAL AND VERTICAL SEPARATION WAS LOST PRIOR TO SMT Y ADVISING HE HAD LTT X IN SIGHT.
