Narrative:

I was flying on an IFR plan at 10000'. Lax pointed out medium large transport traffic at approximately 25 mi, 8 O'clock position, 'level at 11000', will be passing overhead, left to right.' I didn't see him at first, said 'I am looking.' then ZLA pointed out traffic (me) to medium large transport, at first they didn't see me, then they confirmed visibility contact. I finally got visibility contact of medium large transport and 'tally-ho'd' to ZLA. ZLA cautioned me for wake turbulence. I acknowledged. ZLA turned medium large transport over to psp approach. (This is where I think problem really happened.) the medium large transport turned more toward me and began a descent (psp does not have altitude reporting capabilities). As medium large transport got closer and closer, I became very concerned that aircraft seemed to be descending. At last second I pulled up 300', even though I still had in my mind 'medium large transport passing overhead at 11000', left to right.' medium large transport passed just below me. Thank got I didn't go down--it would have been a perfect hit! I think medium large transport drivers lost sight of me or something. I'm using this form for airline pilots' job safety, not mine!! Would you please review tapes and let me know how close we really were? I have 5 passenger who never want to fly again. I have talked to both ZLA and psp approach. The san FSDO office suggested this form instead of reporting a near miss--less work for them.

AT LAST SECOND I PULLED UP 300', EVEN THOUGH I STILL HAD IN MY MIND 'MLG PASSING OVERHEAD AT 11000', LEFT TO RIGHT.' MLG PASSED JUST BELOW ME. THANK GOT I DIDN'T GO DOWN--IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A PERFECT HIT! I THINK MLG DRIVERS LOST SIGHT OF ME OR SOMETHING. I'M USING THIS FORM FOR AIRLINE PLTS' JOB SAFETY, NOT MINE!! WOULD YOU PLEASE REVIEW TAPES AND LET ME KNOW HOW CLOSE WE REALLY WERE? I HAVE 5 PAX WHO NEVER WANT TO FLY AGAIN. I HAVE TALKED TO BOTH ZLA AND PSP APCH. THE SAN FSDO OFFICE SUGGESTED THIS FORM INSTEAD OF RPTING A NEAR MISS--LESS WORK FOR THEM.
