Narrative:
After pushback from the concourse at cleveland hopkins we were cleared to taxi to runway 23L. I used the apron to taxi north toward runway 28 and 23L. After reaching runway 28, it became confusing as to exactly where 23L began. I saw the bright runway lights of 234R and thought 23L to be the parallel taxiway, and thought that 23R was 23L. I did not realize until too late that I was on 23L and not the parallel taxiway. We immediately called the tower and they cleared us for takeoff without questioning our inadvertent mistake.
