Narrative:

On a scheduled flight between dca and cle, were given clearance departure to jeres intersection flight plan route. Our computer-stored flight plan was direct jeres, J11 ewc 24, J64 BSU12, V75, ritz. After making the turn at the intersection of J211 and J64, we were questioned by center if we were cleared over ellwood city or youngstown. We answered 'ewc.' we were then cleared direct youngstown V526 noels. Looking at our flight plan, we discovered we were in fact filed dca jeres. J211 yng, V526 nofils cle. I had checked my maps with the route in our aircraft computer instead of the filed flight plan. I 'always' check the filed flight plan with the route in the aircraft's computer. Always except the one time they don't happen to be the same. The RNAV system in the medium large transport is a wonderful system; however, it only goes where it is told. It was a beautiful day, little traffic, and an easy day of scheduled flying. There is no excuse for executing the wrong route in the computer.

Narrative: ON A SCHEDULED FLT BTWN DCA AND CLE, WERE GIVEN CLRNC DEP TO JERES INTXN FLT PLAN ROUTE. OUR COMPUTER-STORED FLT PLAN WAS DIRECT JERES, J11 EWC 24, J64 BSU12, V75, RITZ. AFTER MAKING THE TURN AT THE INTXN OF J211 AND J64, WE WERE QUESTIONED BY CENTER IF WE WERE CLRED OVER ELLWOOD CITY OR YOUNGSTOWN. WE ANSWERED 'EWC.' WE WERE THEN CLRED DIRECT YOUNGSTOWN V526 NOELS. LOOKING AT OUR FLT PLAN, WE DISCOVERED WE WERE IN FACT FILED DCA JERES. J211 YNG, V526 NOFILS CLE. I HAD CHKED MY MAPS WITH THE ROUTE IN OUR ACFT COMPUTER INSTEAD OF THE FILED FLT PLAN. I 'ALWAYS' CHK THE FILED FLT PLAN WITH THE ROUTE IN THE ACFT'S COMPUTER. ALWAYS EXCEPT THE ONE TIME THEY DON'T HAPPEN TO BE THE SAME. THE RNAV SYS IN THE MLG IS A WONDERFUL SYS; HOWEVER, IT ONLY GOES WHERE IT IS TOLD. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY, LITTLE TFC, AND AN EASY DAY OF SCHEDULED FLYING. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR EXECUTING THE WRONG ROUTE IN THE COMPUTER.
