Narrative:
After phoning the computerized WX reporting and learning chicago was 2500' broken with 5 mi visibility, I departed waupaca, wi. Past milwaukee, the WX deteriorated and I found myself in total IFR conditions. I decided to proceed to my destination of schaumburg. I was using RNAV. I found the airport and made 3 passes, but determined it too dangerous to attempt a landing. The FBO gave me the chicago ATC frequency and I contacted them. They asked some questions and advised me to fly straight ahead, keeping my wings level. At this point, I believe, based on where I determined my position to be, I crossed into ATC area. I was given instructions to climb and given a heading to follow, which I did. I was then directed to sterling, il, where I made a VFR landing. The entire event was pilot error. I will never used the computerized WX again. I will always speak to a briefer. As conditions deteriorate, I will never continue into bad WX, but will land at the nearest alternative airport and wait.
