Narrative:
Alternator went off line (light came on), 0 ammeter indication. On a flight from redding/benton airport to hwd, the above indications occurred. After completing all procedure from memory, I backed them up with the published checklist. Flew under the sfo TCA, making calls in the blind as I entered the hwd air traffic area. I landed after visually clearing the pattern, safely establishing my intentions of landing on 28R, and completing all before-landing checks from the checklists. I landed safely and west/O incident, then contacted tower by phone to explain what had occurred. No report was required.
