Narrative:
During the climb-out on departure to mci, right fire warning light came on. According to procedure, the right power lever was retarded to 0 thrust before shutting down the engine. An emergency was declared and the fire equipment was called out. As we were about to shut down the engine the fire warning light went out. We then started back for the airport with engine at 0 thrust. We cancelled the emergency with ATC. Departure gave us a vector back to the airport. We entered left traffic and landed runway 19. On the approach to landing, emergency checklists were consulted for single engine landing and go around procedures. A single engine landing was completed with no complications. We were never given an actual approach clearance, visibility or otherwise, except for the vector back to airport. The actual flight visibility was approximately 6 mi, although the last WX springfield had given was 2 mi, so a visibility approach was made when the WX was officially below VFR, but actual conditions were VFR. Once on the ground it was determined by company maintenance that there was a short in the detection circuitry causing the light to illuminate.

Title: COMMUTER SMT ENGINE FIRE WARNING COME ON DURING INITIAL CLIMB. INFLT ENGINE SHUTDOWN. RETURN LAND.
Narrative: DURING THE CLB-OUT ON DEP TO MCI, RIGHT FIRE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. ACCORDING TO PROC, THE RIGHT PWR LEVER WAS RETARDED TO 0 THRUST BEFORE SHUTTING DOWN THE ENG. AN EMER WAS DECLARED AND THE FIRE EQUIP WAS CALLED OUT. AS WE WERE ABOUT TO SHUT DOWN THE ENG THE FIRE WARNING LIGHT WENT OUT. WE THEN STARTED BACK FOR THE ARPT WITH ENG AT 0 THRUST. WE CANCELLED THE EMER WITH ATC. DEP GAVE US A VECTOR BACK TO THE ARPT. WE ENTERED LEFT TFC AND LANDED RWY 19. ON THE APCH TO LNDG, EMER CHKLISTS WERE CONSULTED FOR SINGLE ENG LNDG AND GAR PROCS. A SINGLE ENG LNDG WAS COMPLETED WITH NO COMPLICATIONS. WE WERE NEVER GIVEN AN ACTUAL APCH CLRNC, VIS OR OTHERWISE, EXCEPT FOR THE VECTOR BACK TO ARPT. THE ACTUAL FLT VISIBILITY WAS APPROX 6 MI, ALTHOUGH THE LAST WX SPRINGFIELD HAD GIVEN WAS 2 MI, SO A VIS APCH WAS MADE WHEN THE WX WAS OFFICIALLY BELOW VFR, BUT ACTUAL CONDITIONS WERE VFR. ONCE ON THE GND IT WAS DETERMINED BY COMPANY MAINT THAT THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE DETECTION CIRCUITRY CAUSING THE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE.
