Narrative:
Turning final to runway 3 from a left base, I nearly collided with an small aircraft that was also turning final from the opp base. I was following the aircraft the tower had sequenced me to follow. I do not know where the other aircraft came from. The tower did not issue a traffic alert to me. Contributing factors: intensive student training at this airport. Lack of radar prevents controllers from issuing traffic alerts. At this time of day the visibility was very bad due to the angle of the sun. Corrective actions: tower should limit the amount of pattern traffic to the amount the controllers can safely monitor west/O radar.

Title: NMAC.
Narrative: TURNING FINAL TO RWY 3 FROM A LEFT BASE, I NEARLY COLLIDED WITH AN SMA THAT WAS ALSO TURNING FINAL FROM THE OPP BASE. I WAS FOLLOWING THE ACFT THE TWR HAD SEQUENCED ME TO FOLLOW. I DO NOT KNOW WHERE THE OTHER ACFT CAME FROM. THE TWR DID NOT ISSUE A TFC ALERT TO ME. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: INTENSIVE STUDENT TRNING AT THIS ARPT. LACK OF RADAR PREVENTS CTLRS FROM ISSUING TFC ALERTS. AT THIS TIME OF DAY THE VISIBILITY WAS VERY BAD DUE TO THE ANGLE OF THE SUN. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: TWR SHOULD LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF PATTERN TFC TO THE AMOUNT THE CTLRS CAN SAFELY MONITOR W/O RADAR.
