Narrative:

Ground control was very congested but finally issued the clearance to 'taxi to runway 36L.' we began to taxi at the intersection of two txwys. An air carrier medium large transport crossed an inactive runway and an air carrier large transport had just crossed in front of us and the medium large transport appeared to be giving way to us as he crossed runway 5 on the 36L parallel taxiway. As we entered the intersection of the txwys, he stopped. Our first real sign of confusion came when he demanded that something be done about the medium large transport that cut in front of him so closely that he had to jamb on his brakes. We had assumed that he was issued a 'give way' or 'hold short' clearance. I think he felt the same of us. The aircraft did not come closer than normal taxi clrncs and if not for the medium large transport crew's irate, unprofessional behavior on the radio frequency, we would have probably not been aware of this incident. Problem was caused by very congested frequency and failure of the controller to resolve the impending conflict at this intersection. Also the perception by myself (captain) that the other aircraft was slowing and giving way to us.

Title: TAXIING ACR CUT IN FRONT OF ANOTHER ACR, CAUSING THE SECOND ONE TO STOP ABRUPTLY.

Narrative: GND CTL WAS VERY CONGESTED BUT FINALLY ISSUED THE CLRNC TO 'TAXI TO RWY 36L.' WE BEGAN TO TAXI AT THE INTXN OF TWO TXWYS. AN ACR MLG CROSSED AN INACTIVE RWY AND AN ACR LGT HAD JUST CROSSED IN FRONT OF US AND THE MLG APPEARED TO BE GIVING WAY TO US AS HE CROSSED RWY 5 ON THE 36L PARALLEL TXWY. AS WE ENTERED THE INTXN OF THE TXWYS, HE STOPPED. OUR FIRST REAL SIGN OF CONFUSION CAME WHEN HE DEMANDED THAT SOMETHING BE DONE ABOUT THE MLG THAT CUT IN FRONT OF HIM SO CLOSELY THAT HE HAD TO JAMB ON HIS BRAKES. WE HAD ASSUMED THAT HE WAS ISSUED A 'GIVE WAY' OR 'HOLD SHORT' CLRNC. I THINK HE FELT THE SAME OF US. THE ACFT DID NOT COME CLOSER THAN NORMAL TAXI CLRNCS AND IF NOT FOR THE MLG CREW'S IRATE, UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR ON THE RADIO FREQ, WE WOULD HAVE PROBABLY NOT BEEN AWARE OF THIS INCIDENT. PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY VERY CONGESTED FREQ AND FAILURE OF THE CTLR TO RESOLVE THE IMPENDING CONFLICT AT THIS INTXN. ALSO THE PERCEPTION BY MYSELF (CAPT) THAT THE OTHER ACFT WAS SLOWING AND GIVING WAY TO US.
