Narrative:
We were flying an light transport X from fbi to sjc. I was flying the left seat performing pilot duties. We departed from runway 13R, bfi, at approximately XA39 via the kent 2 SID. Our clearance was to maintain runway heading, climb to and maintain 10000'. On contacting sea departure after takeoff, we were cleared to climb to and maintain 13000'. I was hand-flying the aircraft at 250 KTS, climb power schedule, with the flight director programmed for runway heading and a pre-selected altitude of 13000'. Our rate of climb was approximately 3500 FPM due to light loading. We climbed through an overcast layer and broke into the clear at about 5000'. As I passed through 12000' I had begun to slow the rate of climb, anticipating leveling off at 13000'. At about 12000' the first officer informed me that we needed to try to level at 12000' and I immediately reduced the thrust of both engines. At that point I was still climbing and could not just pitch the nose down west/O possible throwing my passenger against the ceiling. It required a few seconds to stop the climb and establish a descent, during which time I noticed traffic to the left and above us. ATC cautioned us on our altitude, and the first officer acknowledged with 'in the descent.' ATC then advised us that we had traffic at 10:30-11 O'clock, and we acknowledged visibility contact. The traffic was an large transport Y, nwbnd, above our altitude. ATC did not report altitude for the traffic. Supplemental information from acn 134622: during the climb we received several sector frequency changes. We received a new altitude of 12000' combined with a handoff to ZSE at approximately 11000'. I was extremely busy on the radio and missed our normal call of '1000 to level.'

Title: CORP LTT OVERSHOOTS ASSIGNED ALT IN CLIMB.
Narrative: WE WERE FLYING AN LTT X FROM FBI TO SJC. I WAS FLYING THE LEFT SEAT PERFORMING PLT DUTIES. WE DEPARTED FROM RWY 13R, BFI, AT APPROX XA39 VIA THE KENT 2 SID. OUR CLRNC WAS TO MAINTAIN RWY HDG, CLB TO AND MAINTAIN 10000'. ON CONTACTING SEA DEP AFTER TKOF, WE WERE CLRED TO CLB TO AND MAINTAIN 13000'. I WAS HAND-FLYING THE ACFT AT 250 KTS, CLB PWR SCHEDULE, WITH THE FLT DIRECTOR PROGRAMMED FOR RWY HDG AND A PRE-SELECTED ALT OF 13000'. OUR RATE OF CLB WAS APPROX 3500 FPM DUE TO LIGHT LOADING. WE CLBED THROUGH AN OVCST LAYER AND BROKE INTO THE CLEAR AT ABOUT 5000'. AS I PASSED THROUGH 12000' I HAD BEGUN TO SLOW THE RATE OF CLB, ANTICIPATING LEVELING OFF AT 13000'. AT ABOUT 12000' THE F/O INFORMED ME THAT WE NEEDED TO TRY TO LEVEL AT 12000' AND I IMMEDIATELY REDUCED THE THRUST OF BOTH ENGS. AT THAT POINT I WAS STILL CLBING AND COULD NOT JUST PITCH THE NOSE DOWN W/O POSSIBLE THROWING MY PAX AGAINST THE CEILING. IT REQUIRED A FEW SECS TO STOP THE CLB AND ESTABLISH A DSCNT, DURING WHICH TIME I NOTICED TFC TO THE LEFT AND ABOVE US. ATC CAUTIONED US ON OUR ALT, AND THE F/O ACKNOWLEDGED WITH 'IN THE DSCNT.' ATC THEN ADVISED US THAT WE HAD TFC AT 10:30-11 O'CLOCK, AND WE ACKNOWLEDGED VIS CONTACT. THE TFC WAS AN LGT Y, NWBND, ABOVE OUR ALT. ATC DID NOT RPT ALT FOR THE TFC. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 134622: DURING THE CLB WE RECEIVED SEVERAL SECTOR FREQ CHANGES. WE RECEIVED A NEW ALT OF 12000' COMBINED WITH A HDOF TO ZSE AT APPROX 11000'. I WAS EXTREMELY BUSY ON THE RADIO AND MISSED OUR NORMAL CALL OF '1000 TO LEVEL.'
