Narrative:

We were conducting instrument training flight. After completing takeoff checklist we contacted tower for takeoff. We were told to hold short landing traffic. We saw aircraft on two mi final. After that aircraft passed the threshold we were instructed to 'taxi into position and hold' which we did. While in position, with our tail to landing traffic an small aircraft asked tower if they wanted him to 'go around'. I was concerned by the anxiety in his voice so I opened the door and looked back. The small aircraft was on about a 1/2 mi final at approximately 200' of altitude (slow with full flaps). The tower issued 'go around right side'. Due to the airspeed and confign of the small aircraft - he was not able to turn until he was passed us and beginning a positive rate of climb. I checked with the FBO (rented small aircraft) and the student pilot had less than 12 hours tt. He did a good and safe job executing his go around. He stated he had been instructed not to make turns below 1600' MSL. Inattn on tower controller's part to separate traffic.

Title: IFR SMA FLT CLEARED TO POSITION AND HOLD. ACFT ON FINAL DID A GO AROUND.

Narrative: WE WERE CONDUCTING INSTRUMENT TRAINING FLT. AFTER COMPLETING TKOF CHKLIST WE CONTACTED TWR FOR TKOF. WE WERE TOLD TO HOLD SHORT LANDING TFC. WE SAW ACFT ON TWO MI FINAL. AFTER THAT ACFT PASSED THE THRESHOLD WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO 'TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD' WHICH WE DID. WHILE IN POS, WITH OUR TAIL TO LNDG TFC AN SMA ASKED TWR IF THEY WANTED HIM TO 'GO AROUND'. I WAS CONCERNED BY THE ANXIETY IN HIS VOICE SO I OPENED THE DOOR AND LOOKED BACK. THE SMA WAS ON ABOUT A 1/2 MI FINAL AT APPROX 200' OF ALT (SLOW WITH FULL FLAPS). THE TWR ISSUED 'GO AROUND R SIDE'. DUE TO THE AIRSPD AND CONFIGN OF THE SMA - HE WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN UNTIL HE WAS PASSED US AND BEGINNING A POSITIVE RATE OF CLB. I CHKED WITH THE FBO (RENTED SMA) AND THE STUDENT PLT HAD LESS THAN 12 HRS TT. HE DID A GOOD AND SAFE JOB EXECUTING HIS GO AROUND. HE STATED HE HAD BEEN INSTRUCTED NOT TO MAKE TURNS BELOW 1600' MSL. INATTN ON TWR CTLR'S PART TO SEPARATE TFC.
