Narrative:
Flight crew advised ramp 'clear to push to spot kilo'. Once at the designated spot; I asked the flight crew to set brakes; once brakes were set; ramp asked if clear to disconnect tow bar; flight crew advised clear to disconnect tow bar; once tow bar was disconnected from aircraft and attached back to the pushback tractor in preparation to return to the gate; I asked if we were clear to disconnect headset; flight crew confirmed clear to disconnect head set.at this point I indicated to my wing walker to pull the headset from the aircraft; as the wing walker was closing the headset panel compartment door; the taxi lights came on and the aircraft started to move forward. I stood up and waved my arms trying to get the flight deck crew's attention; when I realized that they could not see me; I proceeded to accelerate the pushback and drove clear out of the path of the moving aircraft; while the wing walker ran clear as well.
