Narrative:
At FL300; [we] encountered a severe mountain wave event with moderate turbulence. Autopilot was engaged at the time and remained engaged throughout event. For 90 seconds we had upward and downward movements in the wave with altitude deviations from FL295 to FL304. ATC was notified of deviation and aircraft returned to assigned FL300 without further deviations. Three flight attendants were injured and taken to a hospital [at our destination]. One passenger was injured and taken to a hospital.event occurred due to front range mountain wave. We were in clear air with continuous light chop at the time of the event. No other pilots had reported this severity of wave. Sigmets had reported light wave activity; but no reports of anything worse. After this 90 second event no other wave activity encountered.this event was unavoidable and unforeseen.
