Narrative:
Captain was flying approach to runway 27R. I attempted to acquire landing clearance from tower approximately 4 times from the marker inbound. Ord tower frequency was extremely busy. Our landing clearance was finally received at 1000' AGL. At approximately the same time tower had told another air carrier flight to hold and not cross runway 27R. Other air carrier did cross, even though we had landing clearance. Tower frequency was busy. During rollout, tower stated to the best of my knowledge 'left at the end follow air carrier Y via outer, contact ground point nine'. This was all said extremely fast. I acknowledged 'roger' and switched to ground frequency. No mention by tower to take high speed turnoff from runway 27R, which is normally done, nor contact ground when clear of the runway. Upon switching to ground control, which was also extremely busy, we were advised to contact the tower via telephone upon gate arrival. Supplemental information from acn 141205. At no time did I hear to hold short runway 22R. Taxi instructions should be given or planned on before T/D. This would give the crews more time to plan. We did notice when we came back out to go to pittsburg and tower was telling all aircraft to plan the high speed taxiway to clear the runway.

Title: RWY TRANSGRESSION. UNAUTH CROSSING.
Narrative: CAPT WAS FLYING APCH TO RWY 27R. I ATTEMPTED TO ACQUIRE LNDG CLRNC FROM TWR APPROX 4 TIMES FROM THE MARKER INBND. ORD TWR FREQ WAS EXTREMELY BUSY. OUR LNDG CLRNC WAS FINALLY RECEIVED AT 1000' AGL. AT APPROX THE SAME TIME TWR HAD TOLD ANOTHER ACR FLT TO HOLD AND NOT CROSS RWY 27R. OTHER ACR DID CROSS, EVEN THOUGH WE HAD LNDG CLRNC. TWR FREQ WAS BUSY. DURING ROLLOUT, TWR STATED TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE 'L AT THE END FOLLOW ACR Y VIA OUTER, CONTACT GND POINT NINE'. THIS WAS ALL SAID EXTREMELY FAST. I ACKNOWLEDGED 'ROGER' AND SWITCHED TO GND FREQ. NO MENTION BY TWR TO TAKE HIGH SPD TURNOFF FROM RWY 27R, WHICH IS NORMALLY DONE, NOR CONTACT GND WHEN CLR OF THE RWY. UPON SWITCHING TO GND CTL, WHICH WAS ALSO EXTREMELY BUSY, WE WERE ADVISED TO CONTACT THE TWR VIA TELEPHONE UPON GATE ARR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 141205. AT NO TIME DID I HEAR TO HOLD SHORT RWY 22R. TAXI INSTRUCTIONS SHOULD BE GIVEN OR PLANNED ON BEFORE T/D. THIS WOULD GIVE THE CREWS MORE TIME TO PLAN. WE DID NOTICE WHEN WE CAME BACK OUT TO GO TO PITTSBURG AND TWR WAS TELLING ALL ACFT TO PLAN THE HIGH SPD TXWY TO CLR THE RWY.
