Narrative:

This occurred on a weekend which is a very busy time for P06 with GA. I am with a scheduled carrier servicing P06. 20 mi south I asked for airport advisory. Unicom advised wind calm favoring runway 17. Runway 17 lands over tall power lines and is downhill. I elected to make straight in runway 35 if traffic permitted. Two aircraft reported in the area, one right downwind runway 17, the other 2000' under me announced intentions of a straight in runway 35. When we were 10 mi south the traffic on runway 17 reported turning final and the traffic on runway 35 was about 1/2 my speed. By the time I was in the traffic pattern the runway 17 traffic would have been down and clear and the runway 35 traffic, several mi behind, leaving my aircraft the only one in the pattern. I continued for runway 35. On 3 mi final an small aircraft announced on unicom frequency that he was rolling on runway 17 (his first call). I immediately told him I was on final. He aborted and in a hostile tone told me I should be on runway 17 like everybody else. On the ground the airport manager told me I should have landed on runway 17 and I violated my company manual (part 135). I reviewed my manual and do not believe a violation occurred. Furthermore I still believe I made the best decision. I suspect the airport manager called the FSDO and made up a good story (he's done it before to other pilots).

Title: ACR LTT PIC IGNORES ARPT TRAFFIC ADVISORY FROM UNICOM AND LANDS OPPOSITE DIRECTION TO TRAFFIC. OTHER PERSONNEL SUCH AS PLTS AND ARPT MANAGER ARE NOT IMPRESSED.

Narrative: THIS OCCURRED ON A WEEKEND WHICH IS A VERY BUSY TIME FOR P06 WITH GA. I AM WITH A SCHEDULED CARRIER SERVICING P06. 20 MI S I ASKED FOR ARPT ADVISORY. UNICOM ADVISED WIND CALM FAVORING RWY 17. RWY 17 LANDS OVER TALL PWR LINES AND IS DOWNHILL. I ELECTED TO MAKE STRAIGHT IN RWY 35 IF TFC PERMITTED. TWO ACFT RPTED IN THE AREA, ONE R DOWNWIND RWY 17, THE OTHER 2000' UNDER ME ANNOUNCED INTENTIONS OF A STRAIGHT IN RWY 35. WHEN WE WERE 10 MI S THE TFC ON RWY 17 RPTED TURNING FINAL AND THE TFC ON RWY 35 WAS ABOUT 1/2 MY SPD. BY THE TIME I WAS IN THE TFC PATTERN THE RWY 17 TFC WOULD HAVE BEEN DOWN AND CLR AND THE RWY 35 TFC, SEVERAL MI BEHIND, LEAVING MY ACFT THE ONLY ONE IN THE PATTERN. I CONTINUED FOR RWY 35. ON 3 MI FINAL AN SMA ANNOUNCED ON UNICOM FREQ THAT HE WAS ROLLING ON RWY 17 (HIS FIRST CALL). I IMMEDIATELY TOLD HIM I WAS ON FINAL. HE ABORTED AND IN A HOSTILE TONE TOLD ME I SHOULD BE ON RWY 17 LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE. ON THE GND THE ARPT MGR TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE LANDED ON RWY 17 AND I VIOLATED MY COMPANY MANUAL (PART 135). I REVIEWED MY MANUAL AND DO NOT BELIEVE A VIOLATION OCCURRED. FURTHERMORE I STILL BELIEVE I MADE THE BEST DECISION. I SUSPECT THE ARPT MGR CALLED THE FSDO AND MADE UP A GOOD STORY (HE'S DONE IT BEFORE TO OTHER PLTS).
