Narrative:

Flight had been cleared to 8000 and to intercept sjc 30L localizer. Passing 9700 ft MSL approach told us to maintain 10000 ft MSL and advised us of pop-up traffic at 12 O'clock at 9500 ft MSL. TCASII showed a late pop-up of a TA on the nose within 1 NM 200 ft low. TCASII immediately followed with a RA to monitor vertical speed and the changed to climb RA. Captain followed rate of climb which required a level off at 10300 ft MSL -- never saw traffic visually. Once clear of traffic as indicated by TCASII we descended to 10000 ft MSL. Then continued approach and normal landing to sjc. TCASII worked very good in this situation -- but don't know why it had a last second pop-up of the traffic -- same as ATC.

Title: AN MLG ACR FLT HAD A TCASII WARNING ALONG WITH ATC ADVISORY ABOUT SOME 'POP-UP' TFC. TFC WAS NOT SEEN VISUALLY.

Narrative: FLT HAD BEEN CLRED TO 8000 AND TO INTERCEPT SJC 30L LOC. PASSING 9700 FT MSL APCH TOLD US TO MAINTAIN 10000 FT MSL AND ADVISED US OF POP-UP TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK AT 9500 FT MSL. TCASII SHOWED A LATE POP-UP OF A TA ON THE NOSE WITHIN 1 NM 200 FT LOW. TCASII IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED WITH A RA TO MONITOR VERT SPD AND THE CHANGED TO CLB RA. CAPT FOLLOWED RATE OF CLB WHICH REQUIRED A LEVEL OFF AT 10300 FT MSL -- NEVER SAW TFC VISUALLY. ONCE CLR OF TFC AS INDICATED BY TCASII WE DSNDED TO 10000 FT MSL. THEN CONTINUED APCH AND NORMAL LNDG TO SJC. TCASII WORKED VERY GOOD IN THIS SITUATION -- BUT DON'T KNOW WHY IT HAD A LAST SECOND POP-UP OF THE TFC -- SAME AS ATC.
