Narrative:

Encountered unforecast icing that was undetected until final approach. VASI out of service. Landed short of runway. Damaged several approach lights. Damage to aircraft was superficial. Reported incident. Examined aircraft and determined damage was no threat to safety. Flew aircraft back to home base. This incident could probably been prevented if aircraft was equipped with windshield ice detection and runway with VASI lights.

Narrative: ENCOUNTERED UNFORECAST ICING THAT WAS UNDETECTED UNTIL FINAL APCH. VASI OUT OF SVC. LANDED SHORT OF RWY. DAMAGED SEVERAL APCH LIGHTS. DAMAGE TO ACFT WAS SUPERFICIAL. RPTED INCIDENT. EXAMINED ACFT AND DETERMINED DAMAGE WAS NO THREAT TO SAFETY. FLEW ACFT BACK TO HOME BASE. THIS INCIDENT COULD PROBABLY BEEN PREVENTED IF ACFT WAS EQUIPPED WITH WINDSHIELD ICE DETECTION AND RWY WITH VASI LIGHTS.
