Narrative:
At FL350, the #1 engine seized west/O any warning. We were approximately 2 hours and 20 mins into the flight. Emergency action. Ignition override. Gave no results, engine shutdown procedure followed. (We made an uneventful landing in las.) we declared emergency and requested lower altitude immediately. We received clearance to descend to FL240 and later to 1000' MSL. When electrical shifted to the #2 engine after the #1 engine failed, and again when it shifted to the APU once the APU was started, the #2 engine surged. The #1 engine had been previously written up on a previous flight having an oil filter screen clogged. It was checked in jackson, mi, and signed off. The flight from jackson, mi, to dfw was uneventful. Our flight was dfw to sjc.
