Narrative:
On mon, I was PIC on scheduled VFR flight. There were 3 separate flight plans filed, using fai and btt FSS. First one was filed via phone. The second 2 were filed with btt FSS via radio. The question arose as to whether I was filing commplete enough flight plans, as normally ones given via radio includes call sign, aircraft type, route, ete, fuel on board, color of aircraft, and 'the rest filed with company,' indicating that pilot's name, # of souls, and whatever else is needed for possible search and rescue could be gotten from our company or our agents in the villages. Especially # of souls is, in my opinion, better left 'on file' so that rather than giving a vague list of # of souls based on reservations which are normally not accurate, based on who actually shows up. Search and rescue could check with our agents to actually see who got on the aircraft, or once the aircraft I in the range of FSS, again the pilot could amend the plan. This flight plan procedure abbreviated via the radio has been used up here for yrs, and it appears that the FAA may crack down on us based on a few flts today, so I wanted to confess my possible error(south) and advise you of the situation, of my possibly filing incomplete flight plans.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT CONCERN ABOUT NOT GIVING ALL FLT PLAN INFORMATION TO FSS DURING MULTI FLT VFR OPERATION IN SCHEDULED CARRIER WHILE IN AND OUT OF NON TWR ARPTS.
Narrative: ON MON, I WAS PIC ON SCHEDULED VFR FLT. THERE WERE 3 SEPARATE FLT PLANS FILED, USING FAI AND BTT FSS. FIRST ONE WAS FILED VIA PHONE. THE SECOND 2 WERE FILED WITH BTT FSS VIA RADIO. THE QUESTION AROSE AS TO WHETHER I WAS FILING COMMPLETE ENOUGH FLT PLANS, AS NORMALLY ONES GIVEN VIA RADIO INCLUDES CALL SIGN, ACFT TYPE, ROUTE, ETE, FUEL ON BOARD, COLOR OF ACFT, AND 'THE REST FILED WITH COMPANY,' INDICATING THAT PLT'S NAME, # OF SOULS, AND WHATEVER ELSE IS NEEDED FOR POSSIBLE SEARCH AND RESCUE COULD BE GOTTEN FROM OUR COMPANY OR OUR AGENTS IN THE VILLAGES. SEARCH AND RESCUE COULD CHK WITH OUR AGENTS TO ACTUALLY SEE WHO GOT ON THE ACFT, OR ONCE THE ACFT I IN THE RANGE OF FSS, AGAIN THE PLT COULD AMEND THE PLAN. THIS FLT PLAN PROC ABBREVIATED VIA THE RADIO HAS BEEN USED UP HERE FOR YRS, AND IT APPEARS THAT THE FAA MAY CRACK DOWN ON US BASED ON A FEW FLTS TODAY, SO I WANTED TO CONFESS MY POSSIBLE ERROR(S) AND ADVISE YOU OF THE SITUATION, OF MY POSSIBLY FILING INCOMPLETE FLT PLANS.
