Narrative:
Captain was shooting a coupled ILS approach with a block iv autoplt. After breaking out at approximately 500' he continued to remain coupled which is permissible to 50' AGL. As we were getting below 100' AGL it appeared that he was planning on autolndg. I told him that this autoplt was not autoland capable. He asked me what I said. I repeated myself. At this point, the autoplt nosed over very close to the ground. The autoplt was disconnected and both of us attempted to arrest the sink rate and set proper landing attitude. Aircraft landed firmly on runway. Ceiling panel in cabin swung down and hit passenger in head with no injury. Captain and I discussed autoplt limitations and he conceded that he should have disconnected it at my first warning. Crews need to be familiar with limitations of various models of avionics they may encounter. Also need to listen to other crew members. Fatigue may have been a factor due to short, 15 hour west coast layover from flight that arrived at xa:00 am body time the night before incident. This was the third day of 3 day trip.

Title: ACR LGT HARD LNDG WHEN CAPT ATTEMPTS TO MAKE AN AUTOLAND IN AN ACFT NOT CERTIFIED OR CONFIGURED FOR AUTOLAND.
Narrative: CAPT WAS SHOOTING A COUPLED ILS APCH WITH A BLOCK IV AUTOPLT. AFTER BREAKING OUT AT APPROX 500' HE CONTINUED TO REMAIN COUPLED WHICH IS PERMISSIBLE TO 50' AGL. AT THIS POINT, THE AUTOPLT NOSED OVER VERY CLOSE TO THE GND. THE AUTOPLT WAS DISCONNECTED AND BOTH OF US ATTEMPTED TO ARREST THE SINK RATE AND SET PROPER LNDG ATTITUDE. ACFT LANDED FIRMLY ON RWY. CEILING PANEL IN CABIN SWUNG DOWN AND HIT PAX IN HEAD WITH NO INJURY. CAPT AND I DISCUSSED AUTOPLT LIMITATIONS AND HE CONCEDED THAT HE SHOULD HAVE DISCONNECTED IT AT MY FIRST WARNING.
