Narrative:
On a VFR flight from north field oak to lvk. Initial contact with lvk ATC while over dublin. Received instructions for straight in to 25R. Visibility: light haze. Minor difficulty seeing field initially. Located by reference to gravel/water pits west of field. Able to see runways within 3-5 mi. Continued straight in. Runway page from pilot's guide to ca airports on clipboard on lap determined to be upside-down after landing. Felt something wasn't right while setting up for final. Didn't realize until last instant when #7L became clearly visible that I was on wrong approach. I was approximately 1/16 mi out and a couple of hundred ft AGL. No traffic in sight, on ground or in air. Felt I was too low and too close by that time to abort. Elected to land. Taxied to end of 7L between 26R and 26L. Called tower. Requested permission to taxi to terminal. Called tower from pay phone as requested. Told controller I messed up.
