Narrative:
The flight and approach to runway 22 proceeded normally in visual conditions. On approximately a 7 mi final captain called for 'gear down--final landing check.' I proceeded to lower the landing gear and continued with the final landing checklist. Light indications on the INS panel were green for the right main and nose gear with on light for the left main gear and no red gear unsafe lights illuminated. I informed the lga tower that we were going around to work on our gear problem. We were issued and accepted a clearance to turn left and proceed to carmel. En route we changed light bulbs, recycled the gear and executed landing gear abnormal procedures all west/O success as indicated by the same light indications previously mentioned. Upon arrival at carmel, we executed the emergency gear extension procedure as per the air carrier handbook and then received normal landing gear down indications. We then proceeded back to lga and made a normal approach and landing. After our arrival at the gate, captain made a log book entry and briefed air carrier maintenance, who then proceeded to make appropriate repairs.

Title: MLG LEFT MAIN GEAR FAILS TO EXTEND USING NORMAL SYSTEM, BUT EXTENDED NORMALLY USING EMERGENCY GEAR EXTENSION PROC.
Narrative: THE FLT AND APCH TO RWY 22 PROCEEDED NORMALLY IN VISUAL CONDITIONS. ON APPROX A 7 MI FINAL CAPT CALLED FOR 'GEAR DOWN--FINAL LNDG CHK.' I PROCEEDED TO LOWER THE LNDG GEAR AND CONTINUED WITH THE FINAL LNDG CHKLIST. LIGHT INDICATIONS ON THE INS PANEL WERE GREEN FOR THE RIGHT MAIN AND NOSE GEAR WITH ON LIGHT FOR THE LEFT MAIN GEAR AND NO RED GEAR UNSAFE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. I INFORMED THE LGA TWR THAT WE WERE GOING AROUND TO WORK ON OUR GEAR PROB. WE WERE ISSUED AND ACCEPTED A CLRNC TO TURN LEFT AND PROCEED TO CARMEL. ENRTE WE CHANGED LIGHT BULBS, RECYCLED THE GEAR AND EXECUTED LNDG GEAR ABNORMAL PROCS ALL W/O SUCCESS AS INDICATED BY THE SAME LIGHT INDICATIONS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED. UPON ARR AT CARMEL, WE EXECUTED THE EMER GEAR EXTENSION PROC AS PER THE ACR HANDBOOK AND THEN RECEIVED NORMAL LNDG GEAR DOWN INDICATIONS. WE THEN PROCEEDED BACK TO LGA AND MADE A NORMAL APCH AND LNDG. AFTER OUR ARR AT THE GATE, CAPT MADE A LOG BOOK ENTRY AND BRIEFED ACR MAINT, WHO THEN PROCEEDED TO MAKE APPROPRIATE REPAIRS.
