Narrative:
While taxiing for takeoff at bos, we were doing the checklist. At the point where we needed the weight and balance figures, I called the company to get them. We continued the checklist until they came over the ACARS, at which point I entered them into the computer. Then we continued the checklist. At the end of the runway, I did a scan of the items that are set for takeoff including the flaps and spoilers. When we were cleared for takeoff, I brought the power up slowly and as I did, the warning horn sounded. I stopped the advance of the throttles and the captain checked the spoilers and the flaps. He found that the flaps were not in the takeoff position. He lowered the flaps and we continued the takeoff. The F/as in the back did not realize anything was out of the ordinary as the power was brought up so slowly, they thought that we were taxiing. The rest of the takeoff was uneventful. What was a factor in the overlooking of the flaps is that when I checked them, I just put my hand on the flap handle and did not check the indicator. The captain also saw me do the check as we talked about it later. What I need to do in the future is to check the indicator and not just the handle as it is easy to think it is in a certain position and it is not.

Title: ON TKOF ROLL, TKOF WARNING HORN SOUNDED. FLAPS LOWERED FOR NORMAL TKOF.
Narrative: WHILE TAXIING FOR TKOF AT BOS, WE WERE DOING THE CHKLIST. AT THE POINT WHERE WE NEEDED THE WT AND BALANCE FIGURES, I CALLED THE COMPANY TO GET THEM. WE CONTINUED THE CHKLIST UNTIL THEY CAME OVER THE ACARS, AT WHICH POINT I ENTERED THEM INTO THE COMPUTER. THEN WE CONTINUED THE CHKLIST. AT THE END OF THE RWY, I DID A SCAN OF THE ITEMS THAT ARE SET FOR TKOF INCLUDING THE FLAPS AND SPOILERS. WHEN WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF, I BROUGHT THE PWR UP SLOWLY AND AS I DID, THE WARNING HORN SOUNDED. I STOPPED THE ADVANCE OF THE THROTTLES AND THE CAPT CHKED THE SPOILERS AND THE FLAPS. HE FOUND THAT THE FLAPS WERE NOT IN THE TKOF POS. HE LOWERED THE FLAPS AND WE CONTINUED THE TKOF. THE F/AS IN THE BACK DID NOT REALIZE ANYTHING WAS OUT OF THE ORDINARY AS THE PWR WAS BROUGHT UP SO SLOWLY, THEY THOUGHT THAT WE WERE TAXIING. THE REST OF THE TKOF WAS UNEVENTFUL. WHAT WAS A FACTOR IN THE OVERLOOKING OF THE FLAPS IS THAT WHEN I CHKED THEM, I JUST PUT MY HAND ON THE FLAP HANDLE AND DID NOT CHK THE INDICATOR. THE CAPT ALSO SAW ME DO THE CHK AS WE TALKED ABOUT IT LATER. WHAT I NEED TO DO IN THE FUTURE IS TO CHK THE INDICATOR AND NOT JUST THE HANDLE AS IT IS EASY TO THINK IT IS IN A CERTAIN POS AND IT IS NOT.
