Narrative:

Aircraft attitude: 5 degree pitch, 200 KTS, 1000 FPM climb. Possible factors: right windshield post blocked pilot's view, light colored aircraft against high overcast, crew facing sun and late handoff to center by tower (?). Flight departed sts on INS flight play, following published SID. Crew had just been instructed by tower to switch to center. Prior to initial callup, captain (PNF) spotted traffic in approximately 1-2 O'clock position, 300' above. First officer initiated left (climbing) turn to avoid traffic (30 degree bank). First officer maintained visibility contact throughout maneuver. Crew had been on duty 6 hours, fourth day of 5 days on duty.
