Narrative:
We were cleared for takeoff on runway 34 at white plains, ny, on a scheduled flight to syracuse, ny. The first officer was the PF. We started the takeoff roll when the tower called to us to cancel our takeoff clearance. We immediately aborted the takeoff. The total distance of the takeoff roll was approximately 200' maximum. The reason for the cancellation of our takeoff clearance was because a single engine small aircraft Y was landing on runway 29. Runway 29 intersects runway 34 approximately 1/3 of the way down runway 34. I cannot say for sure if the takeoff roll was continued if the 2 aircraft would have collided or not. It probably would have been close. The small aircraft Y was landing from our right side. The view is partly blocked by trees around the airport. After the small aircraft Y landed, we were again cleared for takeoff. After we were estabished in level flight, I asked the tower operator for a number I could call. After giving me his local phone number he commented that he had told us he had called us twice to cancel the takeoff clearance and it was on the tapes. I replied 'I'm sure that it is.' if he did tell us twice to cancel our takeoff clearance, it was only broadcast over the radio once or one of the times was blocked.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: RWY CONFLICT AT HPN RESULTS IN TWR DIRECTED ABORT.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 34 AT WHITE PLAINS, NY, ON A SCHEDULED FLT TO SYRACUSE, NY. THE F/O WAS THE PF. WE STARTED THE TKOF ROLL WHEN THE TWR CALLED TO US TO CANCEL OUR TKOF CLRNC. WE IMMEDIATELY ABORTED THE TKOF. THE TOTAL DISTANCE OF THE TKOF ROLL WAS APPROX 200' MAX. THE REASON FOR THE CANCELLATION OF OUR TKOF CLRNC WAS BECAUSE A SINGLE ENG SMA Y WAS LNDG ON RWY 29. RWY 29 INTERSECTS RWY 34 APPROX 1/3 OF THE WAY DOWN RWY 34. I CANNOT SAY FOR SURE IF THE TKOF ROLL WAS CONTINUED IF THE 2 ACFT WOULD HAVE COLLIDED OR NOT. IT PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSE. THE SMA Y WAS LNDG FROM OUR R SIDE. THE VIEW IS PARTLY BLOCKED BY TREES AROUND THE ARPT. AFTER THE SMA Y LANDED, WE WERE AGAIN CLRED FOR TKOF. AFTER WE WERE ESTABISHED IN LEVEL FLT, I ASKED THE TWR OPERATOR FOR A NUMBER I COULD CALL. AFTER GIVING ME HIS LCL PHONE NUMBER HE COMMENTED THAT HE HAD TOLD US HE HAD CALLED US TWICE TO CANCEL THE TKOF CLRNC AND IT WAS ON THE TAPES. I REPLIED 'I'M SURE THAT IT IS.' IF HE DID TELL US TWICE TO CANCEL OUR TKOF CLRNC, IT WAS ONLY BROADCAST OVER THE RADIO ONCE OR ONE OF THE TIMES WAS BLOCKED.
