Narrative:
We recently arrived at ZZZ airport and upon reaching the gate; couldn't see the j-line due to the led lights on the pushback tug being turned on. It's not normally a problem with the older incandescent lights; but the led headlights are especially bright; and we've been sitting in the dark for the duration of our flight. We couldn't find the j-line and had to call station ops to ask them to turn off the tug lights in order to see it. With the wingtip clearances growing ever smaller these days; we didn't want to run the risk of being out of the box. This is also a problem from time to time on pushback with these led headlights. It seems ground ops has them turned on to help locate the correct gate; but it tends to be more of a hindrance than help. Please pass along to ground ops to leave the tug headlights off for taxi in. This may be a procedure for them to leave on; but it doesn't help.
