Narrative:
We departed ZZZ on the second leg of the day for us in this aircraft. Shortly after takeoff; we received an ECAM advisory message for 'low oil quantity' the oil level (for the number 1 engine) was slowly decreasing; as it got close to empty the oil pressure started decreasing. We decided to return to ZZZ and identified as an emergency aircraft. When we got the ECAM warning 'oil pressure low'; we shut down the engine; and followed the appropriate QRH procedures. The approach and landing were uneventful. After landing we stopped the plane and had the safety crew look for any visible damage; (there was none) then we taxied back to the gate. ATC was very accommodating through the entire event.
