Narrative:
Boiler VOR frequency was changed from 115.6 to 115.1. I initially dialed in 115.1 referring to the new chart. Subsequently the first officer said this was wrong and referred to his gauge sheet and dialed in 115.6. Later center told us to redial in 115.1, and that we were off course. I was receiving 115.6 but it was not boiler VOR. The logic to changing boiler's VOR frequency to some other VOR within 50 mi is mind boggling. And then for (chart company) to come out with a change to destroy that particular higher chart with the latest revision is even more bizarre (high chart 7/8). I'm sure someone, if not myself, will be violated on this ludicrous change in the near future. In the meantime, we will use the new frequency 115.1 which is on a chart which says it's not valid.

Narrative: BOILER VOR FREQ WAS CHANGED FROM 115.6 TO 115.1. I INITIALLY DIALED IN 115.1 REFERRING TO THE NEW CHART. SUBSEQUENTLY THE F/O SAID THIS WAS WRONG AND REFERRED TO HIS GAUGE SHEET AND DIALED IN 115.6. LATER CENTER TOLD US TO REDIAL IN 115.1, AND THAT WE WERE OFF COURSE. I WAS RECEIVING 115.6 BUT IT WAS NOT BOILER VOR. THE LOGIC TO CHANGING BOILER'S VOR FREQ TO SOME OTHER VOR WITHIN 50 MI IS MIND BOGGLING. IN THE MEANTIME, WE WILL USE THE NEW FREQ 115.1 WHICH IS ON A CHART WHICH SAYS IT'S NOT VALID.
