Narrative:
Struck jetway at gate cph at XX00 am local time. Ground personnel failed to turn on the automated electronic parking system. Captain failed to stop aircraft prior to #1 cowling striking on occupied jetway. The taxi stand appeared normal as 5-7 ground personnel were waiting where they normally wait to plug in ground equipment. Sun line at XX00 am made it difficult to determine that system was not armed. Some stations have a red light to indicate not to come in where no signalled directions are given. Pilot thought system was armed, taxied in slowly, stopped aircraft at least once when felt aircraft getting in close to terminal. Proceeded again very slowly to line up papa bars with lit tube to no avail. Jetway had not been raised for aircraft or perhaps cowling would have missed it. All 3 pilots were alert to the problem and were attempting to help. Pilot had never been to cph before. Aircraft was late departing oslo to cph. Ground personnel were alerted too late as to ETA to proceed to gate and arm system. Recommend red light to indicate to unfamiliar pilots not to enter area until ready for same.

Title: WDB ACFT STRUCK JETWAY WITH ENGINE COWLING WHILE TAXIING INTO GATE.
Narrative: STRUCK JETWAY AT GATE CPH AT XX00 AM LCL TIME. GND PERSONNEL FAILED TO TURN ON THE AUTOMATED ELECTRONIC PARKING SYS. CAPT FAILED TO STOP ACFT PRIOR TO #1 COWLING STRIKING ON OCCUPIED JETWAY. THE TAXI STAND APPEARED NORMAL AS 5-7 GND PERSONNEL WERE WAITING WHERE THEY NORMALLY WAIT TO PLUG IN GND EQUIP. SUN LINE AT XX00 AM MADE IT DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE THAT SYS WAS NOT ARMED. SOME STATIONS HAVE A RED LIGHT TO INDICATE NOT TO COME IN WHERE NO SIGNALLED DIRECTIONS ARE GIVEN. PLT THOUGHT SYS WAS ARMED, TAXIED IN SLOWLY, STOPPED ACFT AT LEAST ONCE WHEN FELT ACFT GETTING IN CLOSE TO TERMINAL. PROCEEDED AGAIN VERY SLOWLY TO LINE UP PAPA BARS WITH LIT TUBE TO NO AVAIL. JETWAY HAD NOT BEEN RAISED FOR ACFT OR PERHAPS COWLING WOULD HAVE MISSED IT. ALL 3 PLTS WERE ALERT TO THE PROB AND WERE ATTEMPTING TO HELP. PLT HAD NEVER BEEN TO CPH BEFORE. ACFT WAS LATE DEPARTING OSLO TO CPH. GND PERSONNEL WERE ALERTED TOO LATE AS TO ETA TO PROCEED TO GATE AND ARM SYS. RECOMMEND RED LIGHT TO INDICATE TO UNFAMILIAR PLTS NOT TO ENTER AREA UNTIL READY FOR SAME.
