Narrative:
Approximately 5 mi out we reported traffic, a commuter airline, on a right base runway 35, turning final, in sight. The tower then cleared us to land runway 35. While we were on final I overheard the tower giving instructions to 2 other acfts. I was at this time concentrating on my student, and did not hear what the tower instructed them to do, but I assumed he was sequencing them behind us on final runway 35. When we were touching down I heard the tower instruct an small transport to continue inbound and to expect landing clearance on short final due to an small aircraft just touching down (us). Tower then instructed us to 'expedite taxi, clear the runway with no delay, traffic on short final.' I took control of the aircraft and taxied it off runway 35 to the left onto runway 8/26. At this time I saw the small transport on short final runway 8, and I rushed off toward the right side of the runway. The tower instructed the small transport to go around immediately and it passed 200-300' over us. I asked my student what his understanding of the situation was, but he had not heard/understood the instructions because he was concentrating on the landing T/D and rollout. The tower clarified its instructions and said he had wanted us to expedite taxi down runway 35 past the 8/35 runway intersection and then take the taxiway to the left. When I was taxiing to the ramp, an air carrier jet landed on runway 35, so I actually had heard someone sequenced behind us on final. I do not know if the small transport pilot had us in sight before the tower told him to go around. I believe however that we were so far to the SID of the 150' wide runway and headed off into the grass that a collision would not occur even if the small transport had landed. Too close sequencing by the approach and tower controllers, and the use of intersecting runways were contributing factors. Communications misunderstanding caused me to maneuver into the situation instead of avoiding it. I was not advised that the small transport was on final for runway 8. I could maybe have picked this up from the conversation after we were cleared to land and on short final, but as mentioned, I was busy with my student. Be careful when allowing simultaneously approaching aircraft use intersecting runways, especially when the runways are intersecting at the approach ends.

Title: POTENTIAL CONFLICT WITH 2 LNDG ACFT USING CROSSING RWYS.
Narrative: APPROX 5 MI OUT WE RPTED TFC, A COMMUTER AIRLINE, ON A RIGHT BASE RWY 35, TURNING FINAL, IN SIGHT. THE TWR THEN CLRED US TO LAND RWY 35. WHILE WE WERE ON FINAL I OVERHEARD THE TWR GIVING INSTRUCTIONS TO 2 OTHER ACFTS. I WAS AT THIS TIME CONCENTRATING ON MY STUDENT, AND DID NOT HEAR WHAT THE TWR INSTRUCTED THEM TO DO, BUT I ASSUMED HE WAS SEQUENCING THEM BEHIND US ON FINAL RWY 35. WHEN WE WERE TOUCHING DOWN I HEARD THE TWR INSTRUCT AN SMT TO CONTINUE INBND AND TO EXPECT LNDG CLRNC ON SHORT FINAL DUE TO AN SMA JUST TOUCHING DOWN (US). TWR THEN INSTRUCTED US TO 'EXPEDITE TAXI, CLR THE RWY WITH NO DELAY, TFC ON SHORT FINAL.' I TOOK CTL OF THE ACFT AND TAXIED IT OFF RWY 35 TO THE LEFT ONTO RWY 8/26. AT THIS TIME I SAW THE SMT ON SHORT FINAL RWY 8, AND I RUSHED OFF TOWARD THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RWY. THE TWR INSTRUCTED THE SMT TO GO AROUND IMMEDIATELY AND IT PASSED 200-300' OVER US. I ASKED MY STUDENT WHAT HIS UNDERSTANDING OF THE SITUATION WAS, BUT HE HAD NOT HEARD/UNDERSTOOD THE INSTRUCTIONS BECAUSE HE WAS CONCENTRATING ON THE LNDG T/D AND ROLLOUT. THE TWR CLARIFIED ITS INSTRUCTIONS AND SAID HE HAD WANTED US TO EXPEDITE TAXI DOWN RWY 35 PAST THE 8/35 RWY INTXN AND THEN TAKE THE TXWY TO THE LEFT. WHEN I WAS TAXIING TO THE RAMP, AN ACR JET LANDED ON RWY 35, SO I ACTUALLY HAD HEARD SOMEONE SEQUENCED BEHIND US ON FINAL. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE SMT PLT HAD US IN SIGHT BEFORE THE TWR TOLD HIM TO GO AROUND. I BELIEVE HOWEVER THAT WE WERE SO FAR TO THE SID OF THE 150' WIDE RWY AND HEADED OFF INTO THE GRASS THAT A COLLISION WOULD NOT OCCUR EVEN IF THE SMT HAD LANDED. TOO CLOSE SEQUENCING BY THE APCH AND TWR CTLRS, AND THE USE OF INTERSECTING RWYS WERE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. COMS MISUNDERSTANDING CAUSED ME TO MANEUVER INTO THE SITUATION INSTEAD OF AVOIDING IT. I WAS NOT ADVISED THAT THE SMT WAS ON FINAL FOR RWY 8. I COULD MAYBE HAVE PICKED THIS UP FROM THE CONVERSATION AFTER WE WERE CLRED TO LAND AND ON SHORT FINAL, BUT AS MENTIONED, I WAS BUSY WITH MY STUDENT. BE CAREFUL WHEN ALLOWING SIMULTANEOUSLY APCHING ACFT USE INTERSECTING RWYS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE RWYS ARE INTERSECTING AT THE APCH ENDS.
