Narrative:
10 mins from landing a WX report was given. No mention of NOTAMS was given. Upon T/D a deer was spotted on the centerline. A slight deviation to the right of centerline was made and deer impacted the right-hand engine. Control of aircraft was maintained. Impact occurred at 85 KTS. The engine subsequently seized with the only visible damage being to the propeller blades. Aircraft was taxied off the runway and a normal shutdown to secure engines was performed. No external or internal (fire panel) signs of fire warp noted. First officer was dispatched to to look at the engine for possible fire or anything that might hamper the passenger' exit. Passenger were deplaned and everyone was unharmed. Action was taken to avoid deer but only to extent of 1-2' off centerline as I did not want to go off the runway. Runway lights were clicked to low at 500' on final approach. Perhaps if they were high the deer would not have been there? In range WX should have contained some mention of the deer as people on the ground had been chasing deer off runway all day (this was discovered after landing)--not that this knowledge would have prevented the accident, but perhaps we would have been more aware during landing. Perhaps a boundary fence around airport would help or a limited hunting season in the area would be of some assistance.

Title: LTT ON LNDG HITS DEER ON RWY.
Narrative: 10 MINS FROM LNDG A WX RPT WAS GIVEN. NO MENTION OF NOTAMS WAS GIVEN. UPON T/D A DEER WAS SPOTTED ON THE CENTERLINE. A SLIGHT DEVIATION TO THE RIGHT OF CENTERLINE WAS MADE AND DEER IMPACTED THE RIGHT-HAND ENG. CTL OF ACFT WAS MAINTAINED. IMPACT OCCURRED AT 85 KTS. THE ENG SUBSEQUENTLY SEIZED WITH THE ONLY VISIBLE DAMAGE BEING TO THE PROP BLADES. ACFT WAS TAXIED OFF THE RWY AND A NORMAL SHUTDOWN TO SECURE ENGS WAS PERFORMED. NO EXTERNAL OR INTERNAL (FIRE PANEL) SIGNS OF FIRE WARP NOTED. F/O WAS DISPATCHED TO TO LOOK AT THE ENG FOR POSSIBLE FIRE OR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HAMPER THE PAX' EXIT. PAX WERE DEPLANED AND EVERYONE WAS UNHARMED. ACTION WAS TAKEN TO AVOID DEER BUT ONLY TO EXTENT OF 1-2' OFF CENTERLINE AS I DID NOT WANT TO GO OFF THE RWY. RWY LIGHTS WERE CLICKED TO LOW AT 500' ON FINAL APCH. PERHAPS IF THEY WERE HIGH THE DEER WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THERE? IN RANGE WX SHOULD HAVE CONTAINED SOME MENTION OF THE DEER AS PEOPLE ON THE GND HAD BEEN CHASING DEER OFF RWY ALL DAY (THIS WAS DISCOVERED AFTER LNDG)--NOT THAT THIS KNOWLEDGE WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE ACCIDENT, BUT PERHAPS WE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE AWARE DURING LNDG. PERHAPS A BOUNDARY FENCE AROUND ARPT WOULD HELP OR A LIMITED HUNTING SEASON IN THE AREA WOULD BE OF SOME ASSISTANCE.
