Narrative:
Over pmd VOR arriving from the east with clearance to cross janny intersection at 8000' we stopped momentarily at 10000' to slow from 280 to 250 KTS. About to intercept the 240 degree right pmd outbnd on the lynxx 5 arrival to bur, a light twin engine aircraft from right to left passed below with an estimated sep of 200-300' vertical and estimated 100' horizontal. ATC did not call tc. PF advised ATC of 'close call.' no comment made in return by ATC. PNF did not see the near midair collision and was off the radio at the time of occurrence trying to attain the current ATIS when was unreadable further out and at higher altitudes. Since the PNF did not see the near midair collision, this report is based solely on the PF sighting.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CLOSE PROX ACR-MLG GA-SMA IN EDW AIRSPACE.
Narrative: OVER PMD VOR ARRIVING FROM THE E WITH CLRNC TO CROSS JANNY INTXN AT 8000' WE STOPPED MOMENTARILY AT 10000' TO SLOW FROM 280 TO 250 KTS. ABOUT TO INTERCEPT THE 240 DEG R PMD OUTBND ON THE LYNXX 5 ARR TO BUR, A LIGHT TWIN ENG ACFT FROM RIGHT TO LEFT PASSED BELOW WITH AN ESTIMATED SEP OF 200-300' VERT AND ESTIMATED 100' HORIZ. ATC DID NOT CALL TC. PF ADVISED ATC OF 'CLOSE CALL.' NO COMMENT MADE IN RETURN BY ATC. PNF DID NOT SEE THE NMAC AND WAS OFF THE RADIO AT THE TIME OF OCCURRENCE TRYING TO ATTAIN THE CURRENT ATIS WHEN WAS UNREADABLE FURTHER OUT AND AT HIGHER ALTS. SINCE THE PNF DID NOT SEE THE NMAC, THIS RPT IS BASED SOLELY ON THE PF SIGHTING.
