Narrative:
We took the runway, were cleared for takeoff and added power. The confign horn sounded. I realized the flaps were up and pulled the power back. We never exceeded 20 KTS. We had completely forgotten the before takeoff checklist! We rest the flaps and subsequently departed. I don't know why we forgot the checklist. Thank god for confign warning horns. All I can think is that the company recently redid the checklist structure, moving many items from the before takeoff to the after start checklist. Perhaps subconsciously I had noticed things complete (from the after start) that in 5 yrs on the medium large transport I had come to associate with the before takeoff, and had deluded myself into thinking the before takeoff checklist was done. Fortunately, the horn worked. Supplemental information from acn 161603: during cleanup procedures we discovered flaps 1 instead of 5 degrees as required on medium large transport. There needs to be more better cockpit definition between the medium large transport model a and model B aircraft.

Title: ACR MLG STARTED TKOF WITH FLAPS RETRACTED. WARNING HORN CAUSED FLT CREW TO ABORT.
Narrative: WE TOOK THE RWY, WERE CLRED FOR TKOF AND ADDED PWR. THE CONFIGN HORN SOUNDED. I REALIZED THE FLAPS WERE UP AND PULLED THE PWR BACK. WE NEVER EXCEEDED 20 KTS. WE HAD COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST! WE REST THE FLAPS AND SUBSEQUENTLY DEPARTED. I DON'T KNOW WHY WE FORGOT THE CHKLIST. THANK GOD FOR CONFIGN WARNING HORNS. ALL I CAN THINK IS THAT THE COMPANY RECENTLY REDID THE CHKLIST STRUCTURE, MOVING MANY ITEMS FROM THE BEFORE TKOF TO THE AFTER START CHKLIST. PERHAPS SUBCONSCIOUSLY I HAD NOTICED THINGS COMPLETE (FROM THE AFTER START) THAT IN 5 YRS ON THE MLG I HAD COME TO ASSOCIATE WITH THE BEFORE TKOF, AND HAD DELUDED MYSELF INTO THINKING THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST WAS DONE. FORTUNATELY, THE HORN WORKED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 161603: DURING CLEANUP PROCS WE DISCOVERED FLAPS 1 INSTEAD OF 5 DEGS AS REQUIRED ON MLG. THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE BETTER COCKPIT DEFINITION BTWN THE MLG MODEL A AND MODEL B ACFT.
