Narrative:

We were proceeding to a fix south of rno to intercept localizer. ATC asked if we had the field in sight. Captain said to tell them yes. I could see bally's hotel on horizon 20 mi away. We were cleared visibility to 34L. Captain started descent and turned due west, requested gear down. I lowered the gear and asked him where he was going. His CRT was in map mode clearly showing rno to the right at 20 mi. Before he could answer, I told him rno was off to the right at 20+ mi. He turned to the north and said gear was up. ATC called traffic 12 O'clock, 10500' climbing. I suggested an altitude of 9500' and to continue descent. He complied. Very strong winds at 1000' AGL, 30 KTS tailwind. Target speed on final at 100' was +25 KTS. I don't know what the tailwind component was. I gave all the callouts. No go around was attempted. Landing and rollout were uneventful. I told ground of winds at 1000' and suggested runway change. I believe this is another example of confusion that happens when switching from old to new cockpits and misinterpreting data. My HSI was in manual on mustang VOR or the localizer the whole time, giving us plenty of data. Once rattled the captain never seemed to get it together. I should have suggested maybe letting me fly for a few mins, giving him a breather.

Title: ACR MLG STARTED VISUAL APCH TO THE WRONG ARPT.

Narrative: WE WERE PROCEEDING TO A FIX S OF RNO TO INTERCEPT LOC. ATC ASKED IF WE HAD THE FIELD IN SIGHT. CAPT SAID TO TELL THEM YES. I COULD SEE BALLY'S HOTEL ON HORIZON 20 MI AWAY. WE WERE CLRED VIS TO 34L. CAPT STARTED DSNT AND TURNED DUE W, REQUESTED GEAR DOWN. I LOWERED THE GEAR AND ASKED HIM WHERE HE WAS GOING. HIS CRT WAS IN MAP MODE CLEARLY SHOWING RNO TO THE RIGHT AT 20 MI. BEFORE HE COULD ANSWER, I TOLD HIM RNO WAS OFF TO THE RIGHT AT 20+ MI. HE TURNED TO THE N AND SAID GEAR WAS UP. ATC CALLED TFC 12 O'CLOCK, 10500' CLBING. I SUGGESTED AN ALT OF 9500' AND TO CONTINUE DSNT. HE COMPLIED. VERY STRONG WINDS AT 1000' AGL, 30 KTS TAILWIND. TARGET SPD ON FINAL AT 100' WAS +25 KTS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE TAILWIND COMPONENT WAS. I GAVE ALL THE CALLOUTS. NO GAR WAS ATTEMPTED. LNDG AND ROLLOUT WERE UNEVENTFUL. I TOLD GND OF WINDS AT 1000' AND SUGGESTED RWY CHANGE. I BELIEVE THIS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF CONFUSION THAT HAPPENS WHEN SWITCHING FROM OLD TO NEW COCKPITS AND MISINTERPRETING DATA. MY HSI WAS IN MANUAL ON MUSTANG VOR OR THE LOC THE WHOLE TIME, GIVING US PLENTY OF DATA. ONCE RATTLED THE CAPT NEVER SEEMED TO GET IT TOGETHER. I SHOULD HAVE SUGGESTED MAYBE LETTING ME FLY FOR A FEW MINS, GIVING HIM A BREATHER.
