Narrative:

While landing, at about 15' AGL over the paved runway, the airspeed dropped suddenly, requiring an instantaneous application of power. Pilot was sitting in the right seat, and pushed the right hand forward instead of the left. Of 800 total hours in single engine land fixed wing aircraft, only about 4 hours were in right seat, so pilot was accustomed to having throttle in right hand. Error was realized immediately and corrective action taken, but aircraft landed on nosewheel, flattening nose tire an buckling firewall of the small aircraft. No injuries other than pride. Due to immediate recognition of error, the airplane was caught on first bounce and flown to altitude and a fresh, stabilized, soft, approach and uneventful landing. There is a slight drop-off of terrain at the approach end of the runway, but no more than at most pennsylvania reports. Wind was reported calm at AWOS 10 mi away, appeared to be the same at the windsock on the field, and there was one other plane in the pattern using the same runway. I do not plan to try any more right seat lndgs unless my goals change and I decide to become an instrument.

Title: PLT FLYING IN RIGHT SEAT HAD POWER DROP OFF ON SHORT FINAL. PUSHED CONTROL COLUMN FORWARD VERSES THROTTLE AND BLEW NOSEGEAR TIRE ON LNDG.

Narrative: WHILE LNDG, AT ABOUT 15' AGL OVER THE PAVED RWY, THE AIRSPD DROPPED SUDDENLY, REQUIRING AN INSTANTANEOUS APPLICATION OF PWR. PLT WAS SITTING IN THE R SEAT, AND PUSHED THE R HAND FORWARD INSTEAD OF THE L. OF 800 TOTAL HRS IN SINGLE ENG LAND FIXED WING ACFT, ONLY ABOUT 4 HRS WERE IN R SEAT, SO PLT WAS ACCUSTOMED TO HAVING THROTTLE IN R HAND. ERROR WAS REALIZED IMMEDIATELY AND CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN, BUT ACFT LANDED ON NOSEWHEEL, FLATTENING NOSE TIRE AN BUCKLING FIREWALL OF THE SMA. NO INJURIES OTHER THAN PRIDE.
