Narrative:
On takeoff the ssrs of an medium large transport activated. We declared an emergency and returned to field uneventfully. This is the second time in a 15 yr airline career it has happened to me. I know that it has caused total destruction of an air carrier Y medium large transport at den. What I would like to see this report do is force the mfr to change the ssrs system in the medium large transport. It is dangerous, and can kill a lot of people. The system, with all of its backups, still fails. Talking to other pilots more often than should be. The aircraft says it will not fly. There is no way to override the system and you fly with an almost unbearable horn, stall lights flashing and stick shaker going off. Under the right circumstances, that would be enough to make a good aircraft crash. Mark my words: this system will cause deaths in the future!
