Narrative:
When attempting to start right engine, egt went above limits and start aborted. While fuel levers were being shut off, tower called and told us there was a fire in our right engine. After motering engine by procedure, we asked tower as to the status of the fire. Their reply was, 'the fire is increasing in intensity' we then aborted start, ordered evacuation, conducted our evacuation procedures in the cockpit and the first officer evacuated and assembled the passenger while I, the captain, checked the air conditioner and looked out the 1R window to assess the situation. Fire truck had arrived and were squirting the engine. There was never a fire indication in the cockpit. Evacuation went professionally and smoothly. Lessons learned/problems: rear galley door was not opened because the F/a responsible for that door was stuck in the mid cabin conducting the emergency equipment demonstration. Many passenger were attempting to gather their belongings, slowing the evacuation process.

Title: ACR MLG HAD A TAIL PIPE FIRE DURING ENGINE START. ACFT EVACUATED AND EMERGENCY GND EQUIPMENT CALLED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE.
Narrative: WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START R ENG, EGT WENT ABOVE LIMITS AND START ABORTED. WHILE FUEL LEVERS WERE BEING SHUT OFF, TWR CALLED AND TOLD US THERE WAS A FIRE IN OUR R ENG. AFTER MOTERING ENG BY PROC, WE ASKED TWR AS TO THE STATUS OF THE FIRE. THEIR REPLY WAS, 'THE FIRE IS INCREASING IN INTENSITY' WE THEN ABORTED START, ORDERED EVACUATION, CONDUCTED OUR EVACUATION PROCS IN THE COCKPIT AND THE F/O EVACUATED AND ASSEMBLED THE PAX WHILE I, THE CAPT, CHKED THE AIR CONDITIONER AND LOOKED OUT THE 1R WINDOW TO ASSESS THE SITUATION. FIRE TRUCK HAD ARRIVED AND WERE SQUIRTING THE ENG. THERE WAS NEVER A FIRE INDICATION IN THE COCKPIT. EVACUATION WENT PROFESSIONALLY AND SMOOTHLY. LESSONS LEARNED/PROBS: REAR GALLEY DOOR WAS NOT OPENED BECAUSE THE F/A RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT DOOR WAS STUCK IN THE MID CABIN CONDUCTING THE EMER EQUIP DEMO. MANY PAX WERE ATTEMPTING TO GATHER THEIR BELONGINGS, SLOWING THE EVACUATION PROCESS.
