Narrative:

Aircraft was cleared to runway 25R at las via taxiway B from FBO. Captain taxied via taxiway a. Aircraft was instructed to hold short of runway 1R. Ground was advised that aircraft was on alpha taxiway and aircraft was issued further clearance to proceed to runway 25R by crossing runway 1R/19L with a left turn on taxiway M and follow medium large transport. Captain misunderstood clearance and turned left onto active runway 1R from alpha taxiway in attempt to follow medium large transport sitting on taxiway B, also headed for runway 25R. Captain turned aircraft onto active runway before he could be advised otherwise in attempt to follow medium large transport. First officer advised captain that aircraft was on active and aircraft was exited from runway via taxiway B behind medium large transport. Problem was caused by captain's hurried attempt to make up time from delayed departure and taxiing aircraft west/O familiarizing himself with taxi route from airport diagram. It is believed an aircraft was on final for 19L and made a go around. On climb out ATC advised crew to call las tower upon landing at sfo. Captain made call upon arrival at sfo and admitted to ATC that a misunderstanding occurred concerning assigned taxi route.

GND WAS ADVISED THAT ACFT WAS ON ALPHA TXWY AND ACFT WAS ISSUED FURTHER CLRNC TO PROCEED TO RWY 25R BY XING RWY 1R/19L WITH A LEFT TURN ON TXWY M AND FOLLOW MLG. CAPT MISUNDERSTOOD CLRNC AND TURNED LEFT ONTO ACTIVE RWY 1R FROM ALPHA TXWY IN ATTEMPT TO FOLLOW MLG SITTING ON TXWY B, ALSO HEADED FOR RWY 25R. CAPT TURNED ACFT ONTO ACTIVE RWY BEFORE HE COULD BE ADVISED OTHERWISE IN ATTEMPT TO FOLLOW MLG. F/O ADVISED CAPT THAT ACFT WAS ON ACTIVE AND ACFT WAS EXITED FROM RWY VIA TXWY B BEHIND MLG. PROB WAS CAUSED BY CAPT'S HURRIED ATTEMPT TO MAKE UP TIME FROM DELAYED DEP AND TAXIING ACFT W/O FAMILIARIZING HIMSELF WITH TAXI RTE FROM ARPT DIAGRAM. IT IS BELIEVED AN ACFT WAS ON FINAL FOR 19L AND MADE A GAR. ON CLBOUT ATC ADVISED CREW TO CALL LAS TWR UPON LNDG AT SFO. CAPT MADE CALL UPON ARR AT SFO AND ADMITTED TO ATC THAT A MISUNDERSTANDING OCCURRED CONCERNING ASSIGNED TAXI RTE.
