Narrative:
Our clearance limit as given by clearance delivery on the ground was 7000'. We were given the prado 2 departure and it states to cross the 'arnee' intersection at or below 9000'. It was a sunny sunday afternoon in the los angeles area and I had briefed my fellow crew members to be extra alert for light aircraft during our climb out. Our TCAS system was in use. We encountered approximately 15 aircraft flying in various directions at various altitudes. Some were pointed out by departure control and some were not. This was all within a 10 mi area. We received approximately 5 consecutive traffic alerts on the TCAS. We were concentrating our efforts on the traffic and trying to avoid a midair and with the TCAS system going off, that I let the aircraft climb through our 7000' clearance limit to 7600'. We immediately descended back to 7000'. The climb was very distracting especially with the TCAS system going off. There were no comments from ATC. All three crew members have filed NASA reports and the company was notified by me upon my return to dfw.
