Narrative:
I was taking my ATP chkride. After going missed approach at hillsboro from a circling approach to a touch and go, I was flying direct to newburg VOR (which is the map) and climbing to 4000'. I was directed by the examiner to ask for a hold at newberg VOR. TRACON directed me to hold. While climbing to the VOR the examiner covered my attitude indicator and heading indicator, and told me to do one hold then do the VOR/DME a approach. This increased my workload because the VOR was coming up fast, I was reviewing the approach plate, planning my holding entry while on partial panel. About this time I was cleared for the approach. My push to talk had been intermittent for the whole flight. I acknowledged the clearance. After we xed the VOR the examiner told me I had been cleared for the approach and upon turning inbound in the holding pattern to proceed straight in on the approach. I would have personally done the full approach with procedure turn. I was getting behind the airplane so I started my descent to 2000' after crossing the VOR from 4000'. I completed the approach and before the map we terminated our IFR clearance with hio tower and proceeded VFR to complete other tasks on the chkride. Later after dropping the examiner off at hio, I was told to call TRACON. Portland TRACON said we were told to hold 4000' after crossing the VOR inbound on the approach. I never remember hearing this crossing restriction and the examiner didn't hear it either. I was overloaded with tasks on that approach and may have missed the instruction. An aircraft was doing a missed approach at hio off another approach broke minimum sep with us (we passed over him in VFR conditions) and sent alarm bells off.

Title: PLT ON ATP CHKRIDE MISSES CLRNC REGARDING ALT RESTRICTION.
Narrative: I WAS TAKING MY ATP CHKRIDE. AFTER GOING MISSED APCH AT HILLSBORO FROM A CIRCLING APCH TO A TOUCH AND GO, I WAS FLYING DIRECT TO NEWBURG VOR (WHICH IS THE MAP) AND CLBING TO 4000'. I WAS DIRECTED BY THE EXAMINER TO ASK FOR A HOLD AT NEWBERG VOR. TRACON DIRECTED ME TO HOLD. WHILE CLBING TO THE VOR THE EXAMINER COVERED MY ATTITUDE INDICATOR AND HDG INDICATOR, AND TOLD ME TO DO ONE HOLD THEN DO THE VOR/DME A APCH. THIS INCREASED MY WORKLOAD BECAUSE THE VOR WAS COMING UP FAST, I WAS REVIEWING THE APCH PLATE, PLANNING MY HOLDING ENTRY WHILE ON PARTIAL PANEL. ABOUT THIS TIME I WAS CLRED FOR THE APCH. MY PUSH TO TALK HAD BEEN INTERMITTENT FOR THE WHOLE FLT. I ACKNOWLEDGED THE CLRNC. AFTER WE XED THE VOR THE EXAMINER TOLD ME I HAD BEEN CLRED FOR THE APCH AND UPON TURNING INBND IN THE HOLDING PATTERN TO PROCEED STRAIGHT IN ON THE APCH. I WOULD HAVE PERSONALLY DONE THE FULL APCH WITH PROC TURN. I WAS GETTING BEHIND THE AIRPLANE SO I STARTED MY DSNT TO 2000' AFTER XING THE VOR FROM 4000'. I COMPLETED THE APCH AND BEFORE THE MAP WE TERMINATED OUR IFR CLRNC WITH HIO TWR AND PROCEEDED VFR TO COMPLETE OTHER TASKS ON THE CHKRIDE. LATER AFTER DROPPING THE EXAMINER OFF AT HIO, I WAS TOLD TO CALL TRACON. PORTLAND TRACON SAID WE WERE TOLD TO HOLD 4000' AFTER XING THE VOR INBND ON THE APCH. I NEVER REMEMBER HEARING THIS XING RESTRICTION AND THE EXAMINER DIDN'T HEAR IT EITHER. I WAS OVERLOADED WITH TASKS ON THAT APCH AND MAY HAVE MISSED THE INSTRUCTION. AN ACFT WAS DOING A MISSED APCH AT HIO OFF ANOTHER APCH BROKE MINIMUM SEP WITH US (WE PASSED OVER HIM IN VFR CONDITIONS) AND SENT ALARM BELLS OFF.
