Narrative:
At the time of the occurrence a student pilot and I were in right closed traffic to runway 3 making touch and go lndgs at mhk. We were the only aircraft in the pattern. At one point we made one complete circuit with a touch and go landing having no radio contact with the control tower. As we were turning final approach on the next circuit the controller contacted us with something to the effect of 'don't you think it would be a good idea to make a position report sometime?' I apologized and received clearance for another touch and go. On the following circuit I made position reports, as requested by the controller, on crosswind and downwind legs. We received clearance for a full stop landing while turning base leg and were still the only aircraft in the pattern, I was instructed to report to the control tower. The controller on duty proceeded to lecture and question me in a rude and unprofessional way about failing to make a radio contact. He also insisted that my position report on crosswind leg was useless to him. Just one day before I had talked with another controller on duty who didn't feel it was necessary to be cleared for each landing when one was the only aircraft in the pattern. I believe inattentiveness caused this occurrence on my part and also on the part of the controller. The remedy for this is simply better attention of radio contact.

Title: REPORTER MADE TOUCH AND GO LNDG WITHOUT CLRNC. ON NEXT CIRCUIT, HE ALMOST LANDED AGAIN WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: AT THE TIME OF THE OCCURRENCE A STUDENT PLT AND I WERE IN RIGHT CLOSED TFC TO RWY 3 MAKING TOUCH AND GO LNDGS AT MHK. WE WERE THE ONLY ACFT IN THE PATTERN. AT ONE POINT WE MADE ONE COMPLETE CIRCUIT WITH A TOUCH AND GO LNDG HAVING NO RADIO CONTACT WITH THE CTL TWR. AS WE WERE TURNING FINAL APCH ON THE NEXT CIRCUIT THE CTLR CONTACTED US WITH SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF 'DON'T YOU THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE A POS RPT SOMETIME?' I APOLOGIZED AND RECEIVED CLRNC FOR ANOTHER TOUCH AND GO. ON THE FOLLOWING CIRCUIT I MADE POS RPTS, AS REQUESTED BY THE CTLR, ON XWIND AND DOWNWIND LEGS. WE RECEIVED CLRNC FOR A FULL STOP LNDG WHILE TURNING BASE LEG AND WERE STILL THE ONLY ACFT IN THE PATTERN, I WAS INSTRUCTED TO RPT TO THE CTL TWR. THE CTLR ON DUTY PROCEEDED TO LECTURE AND QUESTION ME IN A RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL WAY ABOUT FAILING TO MAKE A RADIO CONTACT. HE ALSO INSISTED THAT MY POS RPT ON XWIND LEG WAS USELESS TO HIM. JUST ONE DAY BEFORE I HAD TALKED WITH ANOTHER CTLR ON DUTY WHO DIDN'T FEEL IT WAS NECESSARY TO BE CLRED FOR EACH LNDG WHEN ONE WAS THE ONLY ACFT IN THE PATTERN. I BELIEVE INATTENTIVENESS CAUSED THIS OCCURRENCE ON MY PART AND ALSO ON THE PART OF THE CTLR. THE REMEDY FOR THIS IS SIMPLY BETTER ATTN OF RADIO CONTACT.
