Narrative:
At las mccarran international airport the copilot was given the mead eight departure except heading 060 degree after 2 DME from las 116.9 VOR runway 1R from las vegas clearance delivery. After takeoff runway 1R the las departure control had us turn right before 2 DME at las VOR. After the turn to heading 060 degree departure control cleared to 15000'. After passing 5000' MSL, I started a right turn to boulder city VOR 116.7 as part of the mead eight departure procedure for runway 1R. At about 8800' MSL the las vegas departure controller requested us to expedite through 9000' because of conflict aircraft westbound. I saw a wbd below and above 11 O'clock position. I made a small right turn and expedited through 10000' to 15000'. I do not believe that flight was close to a estimated miss. The las vegas departure controller said that we should have been north a heading of 060 degree. The contributing factor was the misunderstanding of the clearance from las vegas clearance delivery. We used the heading 060 degree for the 070 degree heading as per the mead eight departure. It would have helped if the word radar vectors of 060 degree heading after two DME from las VOR instead of the mead eight departure. The las vegas departure controller did an outstanding job.

Title: FLT CREW OF MLG DEPARTING LAS GIVEN MEADE EIGHT DEP BY CLRNC DELIVERY. MODIFIED BY DEP TO HDG 060 FLT CREW MADE TURN PER MEADE EIGHT. DEP CTLR ADVISED SHOULD HAVE STAYED ON HDG.
Narrative: AT LAS MCCARRAN INTL ARPT THE COPLT WAS GIVEN THE MEAD EIGHT DEP EXCEPT HDG 060 DEG AFTER 2 DME FROM LAS 116.9 VOR RWY 1R FROM LAS VEGAS CLRNC DELIVERY. AFTER TKOF RWY 1R THE LAS DEP CTL HAD US TURN R BEFORE 2 DME AT LAS VOR. AFTER THE TURN TO HDG 060 DEG DEP CTL CLRED TO 15000'. I MADE A SMALL R TURN AND EXPEDITED THROUGH 10000' TO 15000'. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT FLT WAS CLOSE TO A ESTIMATED MISS. THE LAS VEGAS DEP CTLR SAID THAT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN N A HDG OF 060 DEG. THE CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS THE MISUNDERSTANDING OF THE CLRNC FROM LAS VEGAS CLRNC DELIVERY. WE USED THE HDG 060 DEG FOR THE 070 DEG HDG AS PER THE MEAD EIGHT DEP. IT WOULD HAVE HELPED IF THE WORD RADAR VECTORS OF 060 DEG HDG AFTER TWO DME FROM LAS VOR INSTEAD OF THE MEAD EIGHT DEP. THE LAS VEGAS DEP CTLR DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB.
