Narrative:
My student and I were entered the pattern from the west making 10; 6; 3 mile calls as well as downwind; base; and final calls. We were setup on final approach when a helicopter aircraft Y called for takeoff at midfield. I immediately asked if the helicopter had us in sight with no response. The helicopter then pulled onto the runway without stopping at the hold short line. I made and immediate go-around and had to make a sharp turn to the right to avoid a collision. Other traffic in the pattern as well as ATC prior to our entry could hear our radios just fine as well.
