Narrative:

Whilst first officer (me) had head down running checklist, studying clearance, tuning radios, captain taxied across runway assigned. For takeoff he apparently was confused because visible traffic was using another runway and the taxiway was a parallel to that runway. This would not have happened had ix had crossing runway marked and/or if captain would have consulted taxi chart. PF should not ever rush any event in aircraft while it is in motion. Checklists should be accomplished thoroughly. Taxi rtes should be reviewed, departure routing discussed, low level emergencys reviewed, before each phase of flight. The difference between being prepared and professional versus being unprepared and sloppy can be measured by mins.
