Narrative:

After rotation, positive rate of climb was established, gear lever selected up, gear gave aural indications of retraction. However, loud rushing wind noise was noted, leading crew to believe nose gear doors were not closed. Cycled gear once. That did not correct the problem. At this time it was decided to check circuit breaker's. Gear indicators circuit breaker 'a' was popped and could not rest. At this time elected to leave gear down and return for landing. Consulted QRH and problem not addressed. Completed after takeoff and in range checks and before landing checks. Made uneventful landing with emergency equipment standing by. After landing, deplaning inspection revealed gear doors remained open. This was believed to be the result of an electrical problem in the gear selector circuitry. This might be prevented by a better understanding of the workings of the selector lever and its associated components prior to placing on MEL ('B' gear indicator lights were MEL).

Title: AFTER TKOF FLT CREW HEARING RUSHING AIR NOISE THAT INDICATED NOSE GEAR DOORS HAD NOT CLOSED. GEAR INDICATOR CB WAS POPPED AND WOULD NOT REST. FLT RETURNED AND LANDED.

Narrative: AFTER ROTATION, POSITIVE RATE OF CLB WAS ESTABLISHED, GEAR LEVER SELECTED UP, GEAR GAVE AURAL INDICATIONS OF RETRACTION. HOWEVER, LOUD RUSHING WIND NOISE WAS NOTED, LEADING CREW TO BELIEVE NOSE GEAR DOORS WERE NOT CLOSED. CYCLED GEAR ONCE. THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROB. AT THIS TIME IT WAS DECIDED TO CHK CB'S. GEAR INDICATORS CB 'A' WAS POPPED AND COULD NOT REST. AT THIS TIME ELECTED TO LEAVE GEAR DOWN AND RETURN FOR LNDG. CONSULTED QRH AND PROB NOT ADDRESSED. COMPLETED AFTER TKOF AND IN RANGE CHKS AND BEFORE LNDG CHKS. MADE UNEVENTFUL LNDG WITH EMER EQUIP STANDING BY. AFTER LNDG, DEPLANING INSPECTION REVEALED GEAR DOORS REMAINED OPEN. THIS WAS BELIEVED TO BE THE RESULT OF AN ELECTRICAL PROB IN THE GEAR SELECTOR CIRCUITRY. THIS MIGHT BE PREVENTED BY A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORKINGS OF THE SELECTOR LEVER AND ITS ASSOCIATED COMPONENTS PRIOR TO PLACING ON MEL ('B' GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE MEL).
